Smiles Racing is back...new for 2007 the Smiles Racing Team has joined forces with Calgary Harley-Davidson/Buell. We will racing a Calgary H-D race prepped 2007 XB12R Firebolt. Along with Pete Donegan, Will Geczi will be contesting Formula II and Open Super Twins classes for 2007. Will has been asked to manage the team as this is going to be a serious and very professional approach in the challenge for wins and podiums. Also on board for 2007 is Motovan Inc, a large Canadian supplier of everything motorcycle. Adding Joe Rocket and Zox helmets. Also for 2007 Classic Auto Graphics is adding the design features on the bikes and trailer.

"I'm very excited for this opportunity, Calgary Harley is a class act and expects only the best. Our goal this year is to place and win in a very professional manner...the Buell is a great platform for the classes we have, and Motovan has been awesome with their support so far. It should be an exciting year." quote- Will Geczi

2006 was a breather for us as we introduced the newest and smallest member of the team- Salem Freya Geczi was born back in Feb 9 2006...do they make pit shirts that small??

CALGARY BUELL ROADRACING TEAM
For Immediate Release June 13, 2007:

AN EVENTFUL WEEKEND

The second round of the Calgary Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s Regional Championships started with an eventful weekend, full of exciting racing with tons of chills and spills to write home about.

Pete Donegan did not get the best of starts this weekend as he tangled up with a slower rider in Saturday practice. The result was a bike in the weeds and Pete with shattered collarbone! A titanium plate and eight screws later…

Pete is doing great and is looking   to return in about 8 weeks. Willie was left to defend the Buell honor on his own.

Pic1The Sunday started with a 2nd place finish in the V-twins class. The bike ran well as Willie recorded his fastest lap to date of 1:28.39 seconds. A freshly paved track made it difficult to push the times into the 1:27s as the team would have liked.
The Formula II race was an eventful fast paced race. Will was chased by 3 250cc GP bikes all race. Passes were abundant as the battle for second place was at hand. Willie was passed By Cody Graham on his TZ250. A lap later Cody retired from the race with a mechanical! Will was then passed by Martin Dettbarn on his TZ250. Willie responded quickly taking the position back on the straight. A lap later, Martin crashed in corner 6 trying to keep pace with Will. Then on the last lap in the second last corner Matt elder on his RS250 made a daring outside pass on Will in the carousel. A drag race to the finish saw Matt win by less than a bike length, relegating Will to 3rd place in a great race.

“It was a good race but the finish was disappointing to say the least, when I saw Matt come around I ran the bike wide to get the better drive to the finish line. In the heat of battle I got too anxious and shifted a little too early. That was just enough for Matt to squeak one out. I’ll be there next time, I promise you that”- Will Geczi (racer).

A great weekend leaves us with a lot of work to do as the Superbike Nationals bring their show to Calgary June 28- July 1. We will be looking forward to competing in the National Thunder rounds 2-3, as Calgary is a double-header weekend. See you there…
